Vegan Chicken Fried Tofu

When I used to eat meat, I would eat chicken fried steak. So my thought here is to re-create the concept, but as chicken fried tofu. This creates a traditional southern dinner served vegan, which is much better! If you’ve had this dinner in the past, I hope you enjoy this vegan version!

Steps:
1. Press the tofu for 30 minutes to get all the moisture out of it.
2. Mix the wet ingredients together and let them sit for 5 minutes.
3. In a separate bowl mix together all the dry ingredients.
4. Cut the tofu into thin squares.
5. Dip the tofu into the wet mixture, then put in the dry mixture. You can repeat this if you’d like a thicker battered crust.
6. Place the dipped tofu in a pan with oil over medium heat. Pan fry until golden brown, then flip and pan fry the other side.
7. Once each side is golden brown, place on a plate with a paper towel to get excess oil off. Then serve with mashed potatoes and gravy.
